
I was born in Athens in 1972. I studied philosophy, pedagogy, and psychology at the University of Athens, where I earned my B.Phil. degree in 1997. In 2002, I completed my doctoral dissertation, “The Idea of Euthanasia in Contemporary Bioethics”, under the supervision of Professor T. N. Pelegrinis.
Since 2004, I have been teaching at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), initially as an appointed and subsequently as an adjunct lecturer. In 2009, I was elected Lecturer in Applied Ethics at the NKUA (School of Philosophy / Faculty of Philosophy, Pedagogy, and Psychology / Department of Philosophy). I was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2014, Associate Professor in 2020, and, in 2024, Professor of Applied Ethics. In 2025, I was appointed Professor of Applied Ethics and Bioethics.
Since 2015, I have served as Director of the NKUA Applied Philosophy Research Laboratory and Head of the Greek Unit of the UNESCO Chair in Bioethics (Haifa). I am also a member of the NKUA Ethics and Deontology Committee and the Bioethics Committee of the Hellenic Pasteur Institute.
I have authored four books in Greek and two in English, edited one volume in English, and co-edited five in Greek, three in English, and one in Serbian.
